Note: Multiplace Recompression Chambers are the vessel of choice for European Medical and diving organisations. Some insurers may refuse to fund treament (for diving related injuries) conducted in Monoplace Chambers.

Important considerations :

  • Passports remain the property of the British government. A photocopy or other form of ID will suffice as acceptable ID for medical purposes but passports should not be surrendered.

  • Phonecalls can be frustrating, particularly in emergencies. We suggest you ask to speak to a ' farang' (european) member of staff if language becomes a problem.
  • Be sure to note the correct name of the hospital . With 5 similar sounding names to choose from it often leads to confusion.
  • Insurance : The overwhelming message from all of the above is “tell them to check they’re adequately insured before leaving UK” (inc dive insurance for recreational divers). Medical bills are very expensive and will not be paid by the Embassy or FCO.
  • There is no 999 or 911 equivalent in Thailand. Emergency services are (almost) non existent outside the private sector.
  • Time difference : Thailand is GMT+7 hrs
